After five-years of work with Waitangi and Oromahoe hapū members, Project Kāinga can publish the Kāinga Plan.
Climate change is affecting our kāinga, our whenua and taiao. Our people living at Oromahoe and Waitangi as well as afar need to adapt to and mitigate against the climate challenges of our

changing world. This plan, developed with Ngāti Rāhiri and Ngāti Kawa descendants, aims to front-foot the challenges facing us. It aims to set out a kaupapa to help our kāinga, whenua and taiao to be resilient.
At the heart of resilience is good health or oranga, of all things. We need to protect oranga with the best tools, skills, community engagement and leadership.
We first need to know what kinds of risks and challenges we face to know how to deal with them. We also need to know what our core values and aspirations are based on the environmental, social and economic circumstances that we are now facing and will likely face in the years ahead. Then we will know what our goals are and the actions we must collectively take.
